Ondo State Governorship Election: APC Takes Early Lead in Peaceful Poll.

The gubernatorial election in Ondo State on Saturday has been hailed as a success, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) delivering on its mandate. For the first time in the history of elections in this democratic dispensation, all electoral materials and personnel arrived at their duty posts on time.

Contrary to expectations, the poll was not keenly contested, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) taking an early lead. As of the time of filing this report, results from INEC's Irev show the APC leading with a wide margin.

The APC's strong performance was predicted by political pundits, who expected a walkover for the incumbent governor. The opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) had suffered a significant blow before the election, with many of its bigwigs defecting to the APC.

The INEC State collation center is yet to open, but it is expected that the winner will be announced soon after results are fully collated across the entire 18 LG area in the state, possibly early Sunday morning.
