The new Executives of Ekiti State branch of Nigerian Association of University Students (NAUS) which was inaugurated yesterday 20th of October, 2025 at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti started their tenure on a smooth sail; all thanks to Amb. Chief. Ilesanmi Francis Olaniyi a.k.a “Ijoba Federal.” The change of guards at the helms of affairs of the student’s association took place at the Federal University which attracted outgoing officers, in-coming officers and students alike.
The high point of the event was a lecture delivered by Amb. Ilesanmi Francis Olaniyi who was a special guest/speaker at the gathering that was full of excitement (characteristic of student unionism and youthful exuberance; spiced with chants and slogans of Aluta.) In his lecture, the Ipetu-Ijesha born high chief and business mogul told his audience that “This new era calls for student leaders who are informed, digitally aware, and globally minded. Leaders, who understand that their voices must carry wisdom, not just noise. The value of your leadership will not be measured by the titles you hold, but by the lives you touch. True advocacy is not for self-benefit but for the collective good. I charge the newly inaugurated executives: let service be your guiding principle.”
Speaking further, Amb. Ilesanmi who is aspiring to go to the Senate to represent Osun East in 2027 told the new students’ executives that “As you take up this mantle of leadership: Be the voice of the voiceless build bridges, not walls. Leave your campuses better than you met them. Collaborate with stakeholders, government, and communities to push the frontiers of student development. Above all, never forget that leadership is temporary, but legacy is permanent. Today’s inauguration is not just the swearing-in of executives; it is the birth of a new chapter in Ekiti student leadership. May this era be marked by advocacy that enlightens, and by impact that empowers. I urge you all to rise with courage, serve with humility, and lead with vision. Together, let us ignite student leadership into a new era of advocacy and impact.” He concluded. The lecture was met with a thunderous ovation particularly when he announced a donation of one million naira for the take-off of the new officers. The students in turn honoured him with an award of Excellence.
