ARAGBIJI, ELERINMO, “IJOBA FEDERAL” PRESENT AS OYETOLA RECEIVES AWARD

 ILORIN: It was a grandiose occasion at the main Auditorium of the University of Ilorin on Thursday, October 16th 2025 when the highly revered institution conferred an Award of Honourary Fellow for Leadership and Management on the former governor of Osun state who is also the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola. The event which was organized by CENTRE FOR ADVANCEMENT of the University was part of the lineup of activities to mark the institution’s 50th anniversary.

The awardee, (His Excellency, Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola) who was also the guest speaker at the event gave a lecture on “THE NEXUS BETWEEN BLUE ECONOMY AND HIGHER EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA” to the admiration of the mammoth crowd that graced the event. Two prominent Kings from Osun State, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV and Arowotawaya II, Oba Dr. Michael Adeagbo Odunayo Ajayi, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesha also attended the occasion on invitation.


It is noteworthy that dignitaries from Osun State were led to the event by the former speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Prof. Mojeed Alabi to give the minister the required moral support. Also, the foremost aspirant gunning for Osun East Senatorial District seat Amb. Chief Ilesanmi Francis Olaniyi came all the way from Lagos to support former governor Oyetola with his presence. Speaking with journalists shortly after the event Chief Ilesanmi; popularly known as “Ijoba Federal” eulogized the minister; saying “The award given to our leader is a testament of his hard work, dedication to duty and his meaningful impact on the society with his giant strides in his ministry which is very commendable." The second awardee was the governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Transport at the event.
